Biography

Dr. Calhoun received his Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology from UNC Chapel Hill, M.A. in Psychology from the University of South Florida, and B.A. in Psychology from UNC Chapel Hill. He completed his internship at the Charleston Consortium and his postdoctoral training as an NIH T32 Postdoctoral Fellow at the Medical University of South Carolina's National Crime Victims Research and Treatment Center (NCVC). Dr. Calhoun’s research primarily centers on examining the impact of major life stressors on psychosocial and neurobiological development throughout childhood and adolescence. In particular, he utilizes a multi-method approach to examine self-regulation and interpersonal processes contributing to stress management and psychological symptoms (PTSD, depression, anxiety).
