Accelerated BS in Nursing

Description

The Accelerated Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree program is a 16 month, four consecutive semester program, which includes a summer semester. It is an on-campus program, with classroom, clinical, and lab components. MUSC is an academic health science center environment, and the other Colleges on campus are Medicine, Graduate Studies, Dentistry, Pharmacy, and Health Professions. There are interprofessional academic and extracurricular activities.  Additional information regarding the program can be found on the MUSC College of Nursing site.

Please note that official immunization records will be required of all students prior to participation in the clinical portions of this program.

International Applicants

Due to several distance-education components of this program, MUSC is unable to issue- I-20 forms to allow students to obtain F-1 student visas. Only U.S. citizens, permanent residents, and those holding other valid U.S. visas will be accepted.

TOEFL Scores

The score report of the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) is required for all applicants whose native language is not English. A TOEFL score of at least 80 is required.

Requirements

In addition to the online application, applicants should also submit official transcripts from each post-secondary school attended, three (3) satisfactory university reference forms, a one hundred (100) word essay and a resume by the application deadline. It is highly suggested that applicants have volunteer or work experience in a health care setting.

Sixty (60) semester hours of course work meeting the prerequisite requirements are required for consideration. The preferred minimum cumulative Grade Point Average (GPA) should be a 3.0 on a 4.0 scale. Students must earn a minimum grade of "C" in prerequisite courses. Three of the four required science courses must be completed at the time of application. The required science courses are Human Anatomy, Human Physiology, Microbiology, and a science elective. The remaining course work may be in progress at the time of application, but must be completed by the initial date of enrollment.
