Technology Orientation for New Students

The College of Health Professions uses a variety of technology tools in its residential and online/blended academic programs. New students in all academic programs are encouraged to review information at the links below. Depending on the academic program, students may attend an orientation session in which they will have time to ask questions and receive one-on-one help.

Technology Orientation Format & Topics

The format of the Technology Orientation for New Students generally includes 30 to 40 minutes of presentation and discussion of your questions, with remaining time spent providing you one-on-one assistance. Topics for discussion include obtaining software and discounts, configuring devices for wireless and printers, information security policies, and configuring mobile devices for use with MUSC systems, including email.

Laptop Standards

All academic programs require students to bring to campus a laptop that meets or exceeds hardware and software standards. Contact chp-it-list@musc.edu if you have questions about laptop requirements.

Software

Most required software is freely provided by MUSC or is available at reduced rates, including Office products, and virus protection software. Contact chp-it-list@musc.edu if you have questions about software.
