Clinical Research Program

The Pulmonary and Critical Care Clinical Research Program has a robust clinical research infrastructure and extensive experience in complex trials ranging from phase I to phase III. MUSC is frequently a top enrolling site for multi-center studies in which the division has participated. The Division currently employs 14 research staff members and has approximately 50 active clinical studies across a wide breadth of diseases including cystic fibrosis, idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis, pulmonary arterial hypertension, sarcoidosis, and sepsis.

The Pulmonary and Critical Care Clinical Research Program has extensive infrastructure to collect, handle, process, store, package, and ship human biological samples for clinical research. Specifically, we have adequate office space, laboratory space and equipment including refrigerators, refrigerated centrifuges and large capacity -80° C freezers to process and store biosamples. In addition, MUSC’s CTSA-funded biorepository is available to all researchers if complex sample processing is required. Members of both groups are trained under 49CFR/IATA Guidelines for the proper receipt, handling, and shipping of infectious substances and diagnostic specimens.

To learn more about the exciting, ongoing research within the Division, please contact, Ashley Warden, Clinical Research Manager, at 843-792-4349 or jonesash@musc.edu. You can also visit the South Carolina Research Studies Directory website to learn more about our studies.
