Welcome to Feng's Lab

Feng Lab

I am the PI for the lab, trained in Biostatistics (University of Alabama at Birmingham), Neurology (Medical University of South Carolina) and Vascular Neurology (Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center, Harvard Medical School). My primary appointment is with Department of Neuroscience (College of Medicine) and co-appointment is with Department of Health Science & Research (College of Health Professions). I am a member of MUSC Stroke Center as well as The Center of Rehabilitational Science in Neurological Conditions. The techniques we use in the laboratory are Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation(TMS), Transcranial Direct Current Stimulation(tDCS), MR Imaging (diffusion tensor imaging and fMRI), genetic testing and quantitative behavioral assessments.

 
My clinical interests are:

  • Stroke rehabilitation and recovery, including spasticity management. We have lauched a first kind clinic - Post-Stroke Spasticity Management Clinic in South Carolina.
  • Stroke in middle age population (diagnosis, management and recovery).
  • Tele-stroke consultation.

My research interests are centered on stroke recovery and rehabilitation, including:

  • Understanding of post-stroke motor recovery process and finds targets to intervene, develop imaging marker to predict motor recovery and to guide stroke recovery trial.
  • Non-invasive brain stimulation (Transcranial Direct Current Stimulation) or other novel techniques to promote post-stroke motor recovery.
