Chief Residents

Headshot of Dr. Khawaja

Morgan Khawaja, M.D.
Medical School:Medical University of South Carolina
Undergraduate:University of South Carolina
Fun Fact:I was born in downtown Charleston just after Hurricane Hugo. There was very little light/electricity even in the hospital, and when it was time for me to be born, no OB-Gyn was to be found. A man dressed in a jumpsuit delivered me silently and promptly left the room; no clue who he was or whether or not he was even a physician! My mom was so distraught she forgot that she was planning to name me Megan and named me Morgan instead.
Why I chose MUSC: I was born and raised in Charleston and only went 2 hours away for undergrad before returning to Charleston for medical school. When I started the recruitment process I thought that it would be best to go to residency at another institution to get a new experience, so I tried really hard to find another program that I at least liked as much as MUSC. I was unable to find another institution that I thought offered a better pediatric training experience than MUSC, so I happily stayed here! Because I had such a great experience I knew I wanted to stay on as Chief Resident to be able to give back to the program a little of what I received. Now that I have completed residency I can confidently say that I definitely made the right choice. MUSC offered me a wonderful experience and has prepared me so well to practice Pediatrics. The people I have met, including faculty, nurses, and residents, will remain my life-long friends!

Fun Fact: My dog is an MUSC therapy dog, and has more social media followers than Morgan and me combined!
Why I chose MUSC: I chose MUSC for my pediatric residency training to join a medium size program that would allow me to explore many subspecialties in pediatrics but also build a solid foundation of general pediatric principles. I have enjoyed my time here both in Charleston and MUSC and will be continuing my training to specialize in pediatric dermatology.
