Within the IOP, there are two additional floors with extensive basic research laboratories. All basic science research laboratories have access to shared equipment and resources such as ultra-low freezers, centrifuges, scintillation counters, and cold, warm, light-controlled and tissue culture rooms.

There is a clinical bar laboratory and a nicotine cue-exposure laboratory to study craving and medication effects on craving in humans, clinical research space, and interview and therapy rooms to accommodate a vibrant front-line treatment program for individuals suffering from addiction to alcohol and/or other drugs.
