In the News

We are pleased to have been a part of the cover article in the September 2017 issue of National Geographic. The article, titled "The Science of Addiction" goes in depth on the various approaches we are utilizing to better understand and treat addictions. There is an emphasis on the use of Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation to treat addictions. Fran Smith, the author, spent a day and a half with our group to get a better understanding of how TMS is used to understand and treat addictions and she interviewed one of our patients to understand their perspective on how TMS can create success stories in treating addictions.

Just recently, our own Dr. Hanlon was featured in a very nice article in Science! The article titled "Brain-altering magnetic pulses could zap cocaine addiction" goes into how transcanial magnetic stimulation has been successful in giving life and hope to people trying to get out of the stranglehold of cocaine addiction. The article follows a cocaine addicted individual interested in treatment with TMS as well as a nice layman's description of how and why TMS works to treat addictions. Give it a read by clicking Science Magazine article.
