Cynthia Talley, M.D. joins the Division of General and Acute Care Surgery as an associate professor on December 1, 2018. Dr. Talley received her Doctor of Medicine in 2004 as well as her Bachelor of Science in Biology in 2000 at the University of Tennessee. Prior to joining MUSC, she was an associate professor for the Section of Trauma and Acute Care Surgery, University of Kentucky, associate program director for the Acute Care Surgery Education, director of the ATLS Course, program director for the Surgical Critical Care Residency, and faculty advisor for the Ward O. Griffin Surgical Society at the University of Kentucky.
During her tenure at the University of Kentucky, Dr. Talley participated in numerous hospital committees and university activities including the Interdepartmental Trauma Quality Assurance Committee, Trauma Patient Care Committee, Hospital Efficiency Committee, and Women in Medicine and Science Executive Committee. She also served as the co-director for the Trauma and Surgical ICU for 7 years and the chair for Trauma Mass Casualty Taskforce for a year.
Dr. Talley currently serves on the Southeastern Surgical Congress Committee on Trauma and serves as the career development committee chair of the Eastern Association for the Surgery of Trauma (EAST), Professional Development Division.
She has been invited to speak at over 20 different conferences throughout Kentucky, has participated in 17 national conference presentations, contributed to two book chapters and appeared in 12 publications.
