43rd Annual Cardiology Update

Overall Course Description

The management of patients with cardiac disease continues to evolve. The goal of this program is to provide the most current evidence-based diagnostic and treatment strategies for your patients. Topics include but are not limited to screening and management of HTN in special patient populations, lipid management for CV risk reduction, strategies for risk reduction in PAD, treatment of pulmonary embolism and drug, controversies in treatment of CAD and device management options for HFpEF.

The program structure will focus on case-based presentations including breakfast cases, panel discussions, presentations and use of our audience response system to provide opportunities for all participants to interact with our conference faculty.

Conference Objectives

Upon completion of this Live Activity, participants should be able to:

  • Choose new treatment options in managing lipids for CV risk reduction
  • Effectively screen and manage hypertension in special patient populations
  • Discuss current controversies in the treatment of CAD
  • Effectively use strategies for risk reduction in PAD
  • Discuss new drug and device options for HFrEF
  • Develop strategies to determine when to refer your advanced heart failure patients for LVAD and transplant

In our efforts to “go green”, an online syllabus will be provided to all attendees. Information will be emailed to you prior to the conference so that you may download a copy. Internet connection will also be available in the meeting room.

CME MOC logoSuccessful completion of this CME activity, which includes participation in the evaluation component, enables the participant to earn up to 16.25 MOC points in the American Board of Internal Medicine’s (ABIM) Maintenance of Certification (MOC) program. Registration fee includes continental breakfasts, coffee breaks, electronic course syllabus and credit processing.

No pre-registrations will be accepted after June 1, 2019. After this date, you must contact the Office of CME at 843-876-1925 to see if space is still available. If space is available you must register on-site. Note: There will be an increased rate for on-site registrations!

Conference Cancellation

A refund will be made upon written request prior to May 6, 2019; however $100 will be retained for administrative costs. No refunds will be made after May 6, 2019. We reserve the right to cancel the conference if necessary. Full registration fees will be refunded for canceled programs. The Medical University of South Carolina cannot be responsible for reimbursement of airline or other transportation fares, hotel or rental car charges, including penalties. By registering for this conference, you acknowledge and agree to this cancellation policy.

The conference hotel block is sold out! A limited number of guest rooms have been reserved at Hyatt Place Charleston and are being offered on a first come, first serve basis. The room block will be held until Tuesday, May 14, 2019; however the room block will fill prior to this date. Special group rates start at $229.00, plus tax, per night.
