Cultural Competence

Nursing

The College of Nursing faculty developed the Cultural Competence Model to activate the mission and core values of the College providing a conceptual framework to weave throughout clinical and didactic courses. The framework reflects excellence in evidence based nursing practice embracing equity and culturally effective care to patients, families, and communities while promoting best learning outcomes for CON students. Using this framework in the undergraduate and graduate curriculums reinforces the importance of maximizing the health of people in diverse communities ensures student nurses critically think about culturally competent care. The use of this model by the CON demonstrates the faculty and staff commitment to producing a culturally competent nursing workforce.
