Diversity Officer

Nursing

Christina Lopez Head ShotWelcome to the Medical University of South Carolina (MUSC) College of Nursing (CON) Diversity and Inclusion website. The MUSC College of Nursing is committed to promoting an environment of respect, teamwork and mutual understanding among students, faculty and staff. We are also proud to uphold the values of the university's mission and strategic plan by providing a welcoming and respectful community of Diversity and Inclusion.

I am excited for the opportunity to serve as the MUSC College of Nursing Diversity Officer. Diversity and Inclusion matters on all levels of our mission. Diversity and Inclusion in research, practice, and education is key to eliminating health disparities and improving healthcare for all people. We are continuously looking for ways to enhance our diverse and inclusive environment, which further enables us to recruit, retain, and celebrate our outstanding students, faculty, and staff.

As Diversity Officer, I encourage you to take advantage of the opportunities to contribute to our efforts of embracing one another’s uniqueness by participating in student organizations and leadership opportunities, empowering yourselves with resources and toolkits from the MUSC Diversity and Inclusion page, and sharing your voice at CON specific D&I events, such as Diversity and Openness Talking Series (DOTS; our Brown Bag series) and the CON Diversity and Inclusion council.

In the words of Alice Walker, the most common way people give up their power is by thinking they don’t have any. Please help us in celebrating one another’s power and uniqueness and join us in promoting our inclusive environment at MUSC CON.

Once again, ¡Bienvenidos!
Cristina López, Ph.D.
