College of Nursing Practice

Practice

Nursing

Nursing practice is optimizing the health of individuals, families, communities or a population in order to increase the quality of life through one’s lifespan.

In today’s world, primary care is met with many challenges such as a growing demand due to an aging population, inefficient health systems and rising health costs.  However, instead of obstacles, we at the MUSC College of Nursing see opportunities.  Opportunities for nurses to fill healthcare gaps that increases each year and develop new skills.

We also see a chance to form strong academic/practice partnerships.  Partnerships that are not only fundamental to the advancement of full scope nursing practice, but in the transformation of health, health care and health policy in the future.

The MUSC College of Nursing strives to transform and expand student learning beyond the classroom by co-creating interprofessional and innovative partnerships with hospitals, health agencies, and benefactors to build a well-trained nursing workforce ready to meet the primary, acute, chronic and transitional care needs of all the populations locally and globally.
