The American Student Dental Association (ASDA) is a national student-run organization that protects and advances the rights, interests, and welfare of students pursuing careers in dentistry. It introduces students to lifelong involvement in organized dentistry and provides services, information, education, representation and advocacy. At South Carolina ASDA, we try to promote all of these principles to our students for the best possible dental school experience.

Dental Student Alumni Council

Our student organization works hand-in-hand with MUSC's Alumni Association and the College of Dental Medicine. Together we work with both students and alumni to uphold alumni relations, encourage community service and promote both networking and continuing education opportunities. As a student based organization, we participate in many community service projects, such as: The Ronald McDonald House, MUSC Urban Farms, Habitat for Humanity and MUSC's Angel Tree Project. We are also responsible for assisting MUSC's Alumni Association with the annual MUSC College of Dental Medicine Alumni Weekend each spring semester. Each of the four classes from the College of Dental Medicine are represented with 6-7 classmates who serve as their class's liaisons.

MUSC Chapter of the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry (AAPD)

The AAPD student chapter aims to provide oral hygiene instructions to children from underserved communities. This chapter also educates pre-doctoral students interested in pursuing pediatric dentistry through various workshops, guest speakers, pediatric residents, and informational sessions.

Psi Omega Dental Fraternity

Psi Omega, a professional dental fraternity, was chartered at the Medical University of South Carolina on April 6, 1973. Yearly activities include expert lectures in all phases of dentistry, various social events, and sponsorship of numerous community projects. Members of Psi Omega enhance their dental school experience by strengthening relationships with other students, mentorship from students in other classes, involvement in an array of activities ranging from social programming to community service projects, networking with alumni, and through leadership opportunities to enhance the likelihood of success after graduation.

Student National Dental Association (SNDA)

The mission of SNDA is to promote aid and support the academic and social environment of minority students. In doing so, we provide a sense of community to our members in addition we serve our local community through our several initiatives. From oral hygiene education to social events to celebrate our members, we love putting smiles on everyone's face and hope to continue in our efforts to positively impact others.

Student Professionalism and Ethics Association in Dentistry

The Student Professionalism and Ethics Association in Dentistry is a national, student driven association that was established to promote and support students’ lifelong commitment to ethical behavior in order to benefit the patients they serve and to further the dental profession. The MUSC chapter hosts lunch and learns to educate students on ethics in dentistry and how it can impact their future career. In addition, SPEA introduces first year students to the dental code of ethics and what is expected of them as they become a part of the dental profession.
