Industry Pharmacists Organization 

Professional Development Group

IPhO is the organization whose pharmacist members are universally recognized within the pharmaceutical industry as being the most professionally equipped to contribute to the development, commercialization, promotion, and optimal use of medicines.  The Industry Pharmacists Organization is exclusively dedicated to advancing the careers of industry pharmacists.

IPhO accomplishes this by: 

  1. Providing timely and relevant information that is vital to our members.
  2. Raising awareness among employers and industry executives about the role that industry pharmacists can play in drug development and appropriate medication use.
  3. Providing targeted resources and coaching to enhance members' continuing education and professional development.  
  4. Creating opportunities for members to network and exchange ideas with their industry pharmacist peers.
  5. Providing access to attractive and relevant employment opportunities available in the industry.

Professional Fraternity

Founded in 1921, Kappa Epsilon (KE) is a professional pharmaceutical fraternity whose purpose was to unite women students of pharmacy. The current mission of Kappa Epsilon is to unite pharmacy students, faculty, and alumni dedicated to empower its members to achieve personal and professional competence, to develop leaders within the profession and community, and to provide professional and philanthropic services. Kappa Epsilon's national project involves various breast and ovarian cancer awareness efforts. Currently, there are 37 collegiate chapters and 10 alumni chapters across the United States.

Student Government Association (COP)

The Student Government Association (SGA) is the governing body for all College of Pharmacy students and represents the student body’s interests. It also functions to assist the administration and faculty in promoting professional attitudes and fellowship. The SGA hosts the spring Semi-Pharmal event for all COP students and faculty, as well as organizing a Christmas gift fundraiser for the kids of the Carolina Youth Development Center each December. SGA officers are elected in the spring by fellow students.

Student National Pharmaceutical Association (SNPhA)

SNPhA is an educational service association of pharmacy students who are concerned about the profession of pharmacy, healthcare issues, and the poor minority representation in these areas. The purpose of SNPhA is to plan, organize, coordinate, and execute programs geared toward the improvement of the health, educational, and social environment of minority and underserved communities.   SNPhA gives students a chance to build on their leadership skills through executive board membership and initiative chairs. Some of the initiative events are designed to let students serve in the underserved communities with hands-on activities and is involved in community outreach programs to have a more direct, personal, and professional experience with volunteering in these areas.

Student Society of Health Systems Pharmacists

The Student Society of Health System Pharmacists aims to advocate for and support the student and professional practice of pharmacists in hospitals, health systems, ambulatory care clinics, and other settings spanning the full spectrum of medication use. Students involved in SSHP learn more about pharmacy practice in health systems and how to prepare for careers in this realm of pharmacy.  SSHP is MUSC's local chapter of the American Society of Health System Pharmacists, which serves its members as their collective voice on issues related to medication  use and public health.
