Dr. Whitney Smith is an Assistant Professor in the Doctor of Nursing Practice Program at the College of Nursing. She earned a Bachelor of Arts in Biology from the University of South Florida, Bachelor of Science in Nursing from the Medical University of South Carolina, a Master of Science in Nursing from the Medical University of South Carolina, and a Doctor of Nursing Practice from the Medical University of South Carolina.
She is nationally certified by the American Nurses Credentialing Center as an Adult Gerontology Nurse Practitioner (AGNP) and currently serves as the Secretary for the Low Country Advanced Practice Association.
Dr. Smith has experience in geriatric medicine, primary care, women’s health, telehealth and teleprecepting. She has worked on two grants as the primary nurse practitioner providing care to the underserved and continues to provide primary care at a free clinic for the uninsured in Mount Pleasant, South Carolina. Her interests include chronic illness management, age related illnesses, and wellness promotion.
