Biography

Dr. Natalie Barnett is an Associate Professor in the Department of Anesthesia and Perioperative Medicine at the Medical University of South Carolina (MUSC) in Charleston, SC, where she specializes in pediatric anesthesiology. She earned her M.D. from the University of South Carolina School of Medicine and completed her anesthesiology residency at The Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai, followed by fellowship training in Pediatric Anesthesiology at Oregon Health and Science University.

Dr. Barnett's clinical expertise focuses on pediatric anesthesia, pediatric regional anesthesia and acute pain management, and physician well-being. She is nationally recognized for her contributions to pediatric anesthesia education and simulation. Additionally, she is recognized for her work in physician wellness serving as Secretary of the Well-Being Committee for the Society for Pediatric Anesthesia and as the Well-Being Lead for the Department of Anesthesiology under the MUSC-enterprise-wide Center for Well-being.

As Director for the Pediatric Anesthesia Simulation at MUSC, Dr. Barnett has developed comprehensive simulation curricula for residents and fellows. She has authored numerous peer-reviewed publications, book chapters, and educational materials, including contributions to the Society for Pediatric Anesthesia's PediCrisis mobile application, Society for Pediatric Anesthesia Case Guides, and the web-based Baby Blocks educational platform. Her research interests include pediatric regional anesthesia techniques, pediatric anesthesia quality and safety, and enhanced recovery protocols.
