Biography

Dr. Brantlee Broome is an Assistant Professor in the MUSC College of Nursing.  She teaches in the undergraduate program, primarily in the RN-BSN program.   She earned her Ph.D. from the University of Florida, where she was funded by an American Nurses Foundation Nursing Research Grant for her doctoral studies in management of childhood food allergies.  She has a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Clemson University, and a Master of Science in Nursing Education from Jacksonville University. 
 
Dr. Broome’s research interest focuses on management of childhood food allergy. Specifically, Dr. Broome has interest in assisting families who are managing food allergy and who are also impacted by food insecurity.  Her work is focused on informing a national action plan that will influence changes in policy that will ultimately impact food allergy management among populations who experience health disparities and inequities.  Currently, Dr. Broome is working on an NIH/NINR funded study which is exploring the use of mHealth to address the educational and psychosocial needs of families of children newly diagnosed with food allergy.  
 
Dr. Broome is a member of Sigma Theta Tau International.
