Biography

Dr. Duffy is an assistant professor and psychologist for the Center for Drug and Alcohol Programs where he focuses on substance abuse and co-occurring challenges such as mood disorders and family difficulties. He has an extensive history in addressing these  with both adults and adolescents.

Dr. Duffy received a bachelor’s degree  from Clemson University. After being employed at a community mental health center, he returned to school and earned a master’s degree in clinical psychology from Pepperdine University. Having covered both coasts, Dr. Duffy’s next move was to Colorado where he received a doctoral degree from the University of Denver and returned home to complete his internship at the Charleston Consortium Psychology Internship. In addition to the community mental health center, Dr. Duffy has worked in psychiatric hospitals, a children’s home, outpatient clinics and as a Vice-President with MST Services, the purveyor organization for an evidence-based practice serving juvenile offenders and their families. Through his years of experience, he has served as a therapist, a consultant, speaker and a trainer of therapists across seventeen states and in seven countries outside of the United States. Dr. Duffy has been an annual presenter at multiple conferences that attract an international audience of professionals and has also been a presenter at multiple conferences across the country and in Canada.
