Biography
Sean Haley, MD, MPH, completed his graduate training at SUNY Upstate Medical University and Syracuse University before completing his family medicine residency through the Medical University of South Carolina, where he served as Chief Resident. After residency, Dr. Haley joined the Department of Family Medicine at MUSC as a faculty member. He is clinically active across outpatient, inpatient, and post-acute care settings, in addition to being the Medical Director for the CARES Clinic. Educationally, he has won multiple teaching awards for his work in the pre-clerkship curriculum around Health Systems Science including evidence-based medicine, clinical biostatistics, and health disparities, and has served as the co-clerkship director for the Family Medicine Clerkship. He previously served as the Vice Chair and additionally as the Director of Medical Education for the Department of Family Medicine. Additionally, Dr. Haley served as the Medical Director for Population Health and Care Coordination through the MUSC Health Alliance and Primary Care ICCE. Currently, he serves on the Board of Directors for Carolina Family Care. He has gained national recognition through serving as a liaison to the Community Preventive Services Task Force. In 2025, Dr. Haley was named Chair of the Department of Family Medicine, becoming one of the youngest Chairs at MUSC and nationally among Academic Departments of Family Medicine.
