Dr. Rabenstein began her career as a Child Life Specialist at Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh of UPMC (MS, Applied Developmental Psychology). She also has a master's degree in Counseling Psychology, and a doctorate in Counseling Psychology.
Dr. Rabenstein has conducted practice-based research and writing about psychological concepts throughout the last 25+ years, including publishing an award-winning book and becoming a consultant. Her clinical work and research focus on prevention practices, clinical protocols, and resources for patients to ameliorate or eliminate medical trauma, developmental asynchronicity in hospitalized or injured children and adolescents, surgical decision making, and teaching psychological concepts and approaches both in person and online to undergraduate and graduate students.
