Biography

Cory O. B. Robinson, Ph.D., MHA, PMP, FACHE, is an academic healthcare executive serving as chief administrative officer of the Medical University of South Carolina (MUSC) Health System and assistant professor in the College of Health Professions. As a member of the MUSC Health executive leadership team, he is a strategist and operator known for building, integrating, and scaling complex health system capabilities to drive performance, innovation, and disciplined execution.

Dr. Robinson leads enterprise functions spanning performance excellence, integration management, organizational accountability and governance, strategic transformation, and new venture development. Operating at the intersection of strategy and execution, he translates enterprise priorities into aligned operating models, measurable outcomes, and sustained organizational performance. Over his career, he has built and operationalized multiple system-level platforms, with particular expertise in performance excellence, integration, and venture development, and is recognized for strengthening accountability and ensuring value realization from strategic initiatives.

A highly agile executive, Dr. Robinson is a pragmatic builder who thrives in complex environments. He brings the ability to operate seamlessly across strategy, operations, governance, and innovation, aligning stakeholders, architecting solutions, and advancing initiatives with clarity and purpose.

In addition to his executive leadership role, Dr. Robinson teaches and mentors graduate students and emerging healthcare leaders. He earned a Bachelor of Science in Biology from Erskine College and both a Master of Health Administration (MHA) and a Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in Health and Rehabilitation Science from MUSC. He is a certified Project Management Professional (PMP), Lean Six Sigma professional, Fellow of the American College of Healthcare Executives (FACHE), and a former Malcolm Baldrige National Quality Award Examiner. He is a recipient of the Algernon Sydney Sullivan Award and serves on the boards of numerous healthcare, community, and innovation-focused organizations.
