Biography

Adam Tanious, MD, MBA, MMSc joined the MUSC Department of Surgery as an assistant professor in the division of Vascular Surgery, effective August 30, 2021. Since arriving to MUSC he has been named the associate program director of the vascular residency program.  Dr. Tanious’ clinical interests include the treatment of patients with aortic, carotid, peripheral arterial, and venous disease. He likewise has a particular interest in multidisciplinary collaboration for complex cases where vascular mobilization and/or reconstruction is anticipated. His research interests revolve around innovation in surgery as well as surgical education.

 Since Joining MUSC, Dr. Tanious has also earned his MBA and created/leads the Vascular Innovation Group efforts focused on developing new technologies in the field of vascular surgery.

 He joined MUSC after completing his Vascular Surgery Integrated Residency + 2 years of dedicated research at Massachusetts General Hospital (MGH), where he served as Chief Resident in the Division of Vascular and Endovascular Surgery. Prior to his training at MGH, he completed a Master of Medical Science in Clinical & Translational Research and his first 3 clinical years of Vascular Surgery Integrated Residency + 1 year of dedicated research at the University of South Florida. He earned his medical degree from Michigan State University.

 He serves as a journal reviewer for the Annals of Vascular Surgery and is a co-creator of the Vascular Education Video Library Consortium – a national, multi-institutional collaboration to create a centralized resource of subspecialty lectures and educational tools for vascular trainees.

 He has over 50 peer-reviewed publications, 30 presentations, and multiple published abstracts and book chapters.
