Biography
Dr. Durkalski-Mauldin is a Distinguished University Professor and the Director of the Data Coordination Unit (DCU), an NIH-funded statistical and data coordinating center at MUSC that specializes in the design, coordination, analysis and reporting of multicenter clinical trials. The DCU serves as the Statistical and Data Coordinating Center for several NIH-funded large multicenter clinical trials and clinical trial networks. As Unit Director, Dr. Durkalski-Mauldin collaborates on several clinical research studies in various therapeutic areas with a focus on providing a successful research infrastructure and also developing new statistical methodology for challenging clinical questions. She has collaborated with lead scientists in the area of emergency medicine, acute stroke, acute liver failure and other digestive diseases. In addition to these roles, she serves on Data and Safety Monitoring Boards as well as actively volunteers in various professional societies including the Society for Clinical Trials. As a tenured professor, she also mentors graduate students, junior faculty and teaches clinical trials.
