Biography
Dr. Philip Howe joined the Medical University of South Carolina as the Hans & Helen Koebig Chair of Clinical Oncology in 2011, and he currently serves as Chair of the Department of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology at MUSC. Dr. Howe earned his BA from Augusta University (GA) and his PhD in Biochemistry from Medical College of Georgia. He completed his postdoctoral training at Vanderbilt University in the area of Cell Biology. He was a faculty member at Case Western University and the Cleveland Clinic prior to moving his lab to MUSC. Dr. Howe’s NIH and DOD funded research lab focuses on the role of transforming growth factor β1 (TGFβ1) in cellular models of differentiation and cancer.
