Biography

Dr. Jennings cares for patients in the adult Emergency Department at MUSC and is board certified in both Emergency Medicine and Addiction Medicine. She directs the MUSC Emergency Medicine Medical Education Fellowship, which she founded.

She was part of the team that brought South Carolina's first emergency department substance use programs to MUSC in 2017, including screening and brief intervention, naloxone distribution, and starting patients on buprenorphine directly from the ED. That work now reaches twelve emergency departments across the state, where more than 10,000 people have been screened and more than 2,000 have started treatment for opioid use disorder. She works closely with peer recovery specialists, community treatment centers, and state agencies so that care continues after a patient leaves the emergency department.

Dr. Jennings leads research on how emergency departments can better treat substance use disorders, and serves as a principal investigator on several national clinical trials.
