Research Interests:
Sungjin Ko's research interests focus on the cellular and molecular mechanisms of liver cancer development, progression, and therapeutic resistance. His laboratory studies hepatocellular carcinoma, cholangiocarcinoma, and combined hepatocellular-cholangiocarcinoma, with particular emphasis on hepatocyte–biliary cell plasticity, liver regeneration, tumor cell lineage reprogramming, and tumor–immune interactions. His group also develops advanced mouse models, humanized liver cancer models, patient-relevant translational systems, and spatial and single-cell approaches to better understand disease mechanisms and identify new therapeutic strategies for liver cancer and related liver diseases.
