Biography

Dr. Diana Layne, PhD, RN, CPHQ is an Assistant Professor in the MUSC College of Nursing with primary teaching responsibilities in the Doctor of Nursing Practice Program as well as the PhD program. She received her Bachelor of Science degree in nursing and Master of Science degree in nursing with a concentration in Acute Care Leadership from East Carolina University. She received her PhD from the Medical University of South Carolina in Nursing Science. 

 

Dr. Layne's research explores negative behaviors among healthcare professionals and consequences of these behaviors on patient safety culture and patient outcomes. She is a certified professional in healthcare quality with training as a lean six sigma black belt. Dr. Layne has conducted numerous quality improvement projects aimed at reducing hospital acquired infections. Dr. Layne is a member of the American Nurses Association, NC Nurses Association, and Sigma Theta Tau International.
