Biography

Dr. Andrew Savage attended the University of Pennsylvania and returned home to Charleston where he graduated from the Medical University of South Carolina as a member of AOA. Following medical residency and chief residency at the Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh, he completed fellowship training in pediatric cardiology at the Medical University of South Carolina. He completed an additional year of training in Pediatric Heart Failure and Transplant as well as Adult Congenital Heart Disease. He was then recruited as medical director of the Pediatric Heart Failure and Transplant program at MUSC. He was promoted to associate professor in 2016. Throughout his career, he has been a quadruple threat as an educator, researcher, administrator, and clinician. As an educator, he has had the privilege of educating students and physicians in training and lecturing at many national and international cardiology meetings. He is the primary investigator on multiple national research trials. He has numerous publications. As an administrator, he is the leader of Ambulatory care for the Children’s Hospital leading the project to open a 100,000 square foot Ambulatory Center. He is also a member of multiple National and International committees. As an active and busy clinical cardiologist committed to the highest standards of excellence, Dr. Savage’s favorite part of his job is caring for patients and their families, both in the clinic and at the bedside.
