Biography

Overview

With over a decade of experience in the teaching of writing and a focus on graduate student writing pedagogy, Dr. Thompson sees writing as a fundamental tool for critical thinking. In the CAE/WC, Dr. Thompson teaches scientific writing skills and supports students in bringing warmth, humanity, and compassion into the writing process. Dr. Thompson consults with MUSC students in their capacities as academic, scientific, and professional writers, offering individualized support and evidence-based practices. Dr. Thompson has conducted research and teaching on subjects including narrative theory, the use of humor in academic communication, and theories of space, place, and spatial practice.
