Biography
Dr. Trisha Petitte is an Assistant Professor at MUSC and teaches in the FNP/DNP programs. She is dedicated educator and practitioner who earned her BSN, MSN and PhD from West Virginia University. She is an ANCC certified Family Nurse Practitioner and has practiced in a variety of settings seeing patients in family practice clinics, long-term care, geriatric, hospice and palliative care settings. She began her career as a floor nurse on the cardiovascular unit in a tertiary care hospital where she worked for 10 years until branching out into academia. She began as a Clinical Instructor and advanced to Assistant Professor at West Virginia University’s School of Nursing where she taught in the MSN/DNP program and conducted NIH funded research. She enjoys working with students encouraging them to explore the multitude of opportunities a nursing education provides with the goal of enhancing our ever-changing healthcare system.
Dr. Petitte’s research interests are focused on heart failure, geriatrics and palliative care. She is dedicated to exploring modifiable risk factors and activity levels of patients with cardiovascular disease with the goal of preserving functional status thereby enhancing quality of life.
