Biography
Dr. Jacob Goatley is a sports medicine physiatrist who provides non-surgical care for musculoskeletal conditions in individuals of all abilities. His practice focuses on the diagnosis and management acute and chronic sports injuries and other musculoskeletal disorders. He utilizes ultrasound for diagnostic and treatment purposes, including ultrasound-guided injections for joint, tendon, and peripheral nerve conditions. Dr. Goatley takes a patient-centered approach, focusing on each individual’s goals to support recovery, restore function, and promote long-term physical activity and performance.
Dr. Goatley received his medical degree from the University of Toledo College of Medicine, where he also completed his residency in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation and served as Chief Resident. He then completed a Sports Medicine Fellowship at the Medical University of South Carolina (MUSC) as a member of its first graduating class. During fellowship, he served as a team physician for The Citadel and College of Charleston athletics, as well as professional teams including the South Carolina Stingrays and Charleston RiverDogs. He is a member of multiple professional organizations and serves as chairperson for the American Academy of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation’s Overhead Athlete committee. At the Medical University of South Carolina, Dr. Goatley is committed to delivering high-quality, evidence-based care to help patients recover, move better, and reach their full potential.
