Biography
Dr. Guldan is a Full Professor, Residency Program Director, and The Joanne M. Conroy M.D., Endowed Chair for Education & Leadership Development in the Department of Anesthesiology and Perioperative Medicine where he practices as a Cardiothoracic Anesthesiologist. Dr. Guldan also currently serves as the Associate Dean for Graduate Medical Education in the College of Medicine where his focus is on improving GME quality and providing mentorship to young program directors. Dr. Guldan received his medical degree from the University of South Carolina School of Medicine in 2003. He joined the MUSC faculty in 2008 after completing both his Anesthesiology Residency and ACGME Adult Cardiothoracic fellowship training at MUSC. Dr. Guldan is board certified by the American Board of Anesthesiologists in both Anesthesiology and Adult Cardiothoracic Anesthesiology. He also maintains certification by the National Board of Echocardiography in Perioperative Transesophageal Echocardiography.
Dr. Guldan has special interests in cardiothoracic anesthesiology, simulation education, educational research and graduate medical education. He is an active member nationally in the Society of Academic Anesthesiologists, Society of Cardiovascular Anesthesiologists, and the Society of Academic Anesthesiology Program Directors. Dr. Guldan is also a member of the South Carolina Society of Anesthesiologists.
