Biography

Dr. Christine Tirabassi Hahn is a licensed clinical psychologist whose research focuses on reducing traumatic stress and substance use following sexual assault and intimate partner violence, with a particular emphasis on early intervention. Her translational program of research develops and tests novel, brief, and technology-based interventions that are integrated into primary care and community-based settings (e.g., sexual assault advocacy centers) to increase access to timely, evidence-based services. Dr. Hahn also examines the role of emotional and behavioral regulation on post-trauma recovery, including associations with traumatic stress, sexual risk taking, and substance use. Her work further explores the intersection of traumatic stress and women's reproductive health. Dr. Hahn's research has been supported by the National Institutes of Health (e.g., NIAAA, NIDA, NIMH) and National Institute of Justice. She recently completed an NIAAA Career Development Award focused on integrating cognitive behavioral skills for substance misuse with Written Exposure Therapy for recent survivors of sexual assault and is currently developing a smartphone companion application to support this integrated intervention. Dr. Hahn is the director of the VOCA-funded sexual assault clinic at the National Crime Victims Research and Treatment Center. She provides clinical supervision and research mentorship to psychology interns and postdoctoral fellows.
