Dr. Alexa Hartmayer is a family medicine physician who specializes in caring for older adults, age 55 and up. Her focus areas include geriatrics, women’s health, memory and dementia care, and medication safety.
As people age, they often end up taking many different medications, and it can be hard to keep track of what’s still helping. Dr. Hartmayer takes the time to review her patients’ medication lists to make sure everything they’re taking still makes sense for their health.
Dr. Hartmayer believes good care doesn’t stop at the clinic door. She works closely with other doctors and care teams so her patients get smooth, well-coordinated care; especially when managing several health conditions at once. In addition to clinic visits, she also sees patients in local nursing homes, helping ensure they receive consistent, attentive care wherever they live.
Dr. Hartmayer earned her medical degree from Campbell University School of Osteopathic Medicine. She completed her family medicine residency at the Medical University of South Carolina (MUSC), followed by a fellowship in geriatric medicine, also at MUSC.
She is passionate about helping older adults stay healthy, independent, and active. She listens closely to her patients’ goals and partners with them to build care plans that fit their lives.
