Biography

Dr. Jennifer Longoria is a board-certified clinical neuropsychologist specializing in evaluation of children with brain tumor, leukemia, sickle cell disease, and other rare conditions that disrupt brain development. She assists medical teams, families, and educators with understanding how disease course and treatment impact cognitive development. Dr. Longoria also develops treatment plans to address cognitive, academic, social-emotional, and behavioral needs identified during the neuropsychological evaluation.

Dr. Longoria has experience leading a large clinical program that provides longitudinal cognitive surveillance for patients with sickle cell disease throughout childhood. She co-authored guidelines from the National Alliance of Sickle Cell Centers on cognitive care for children and adults. Her research is focused on examining the cognitive trajectory of individuals with sickle cell disease, including how factors related to perinatal risks (e.g., low birth weight, NICU admission), disease markers, curative therapies, and environmental vulnerabilities influence outcomes. Dr. Longoria is passionate about providing specialized care for this population and exploring modifiable risk factors to improve outcomes in cognition, academics, transition to adult care, and functional living.

In addition to clinical care and research, Dr. Longoria is enthusiastic about teaching and supporting the next generation of neuropsychologists. She is an active clinical supervisor for graduate students, interns, and fellows. Dr. Longoria mentors students and trainees through the American Academy of Clinical Neuropsychology and the Society for Clinical Neuropsychology (SCN). She is also chair of the Education Committee within SCN.
