Parker Rhoden, Ph.D., MHA, is an academic hospital administrator, educator, and health services researcher serving as Director of the MUSC Health Management Fellowship Program and adjunct faculty in the Department of Healthcare Leadership and Management at the Medical University of South Carolina (MUSC) College of Health Professions. In his health system role, he provides strategic and operational leadership for one of the nation’s largest academic medical center–based administrative fellowship programs and leads enterprise initiatives focused on leadership development and emerging healthcare talent.
Dr. Rhoden’s work spans program strategy and governance, organizational alignment, leadership development, and program evaluation. Partnering with executive leaders across MUSC Health, he translates enterprise priorities into structured development experiences, operating processes, and measurable outcomes designed to strengthen organizational performance and cultivate the next generation of healthcare leaders.
As a health services researcher, Dr. Rhoden’s scholarly interests center on workforce engagement and organizational performance, implementation science and program evaluation, and mixed-methods research. His work examines how organizational, workforce, and implementation factors influence performance within complex health systems, with an emphasis on translating evidence into practical approaches for healthcare leadership and operations.
Prior to joining MUSC Health, Dr. Rhoden served as a hospital administrator at Atrium Health, where he led acute care operations and Lean and Six Sigma improvement initiatives across multiple hospitals. His work included Just Culture integration, system-level process improvement, and the consolidation of anesthesia provider operations within a unified enterprise model.
Dr. Rhoden earned his Doctor of Philosophy and Master of Health Administration degrees from MUSC and completed his administrative residency at Carolinas Medical Center in Charlotte, North Carolina. He is a founding member and past president of the MUSC Health Administration Alumni Network and was recognized by Clemson University among its Roaring Ten for leadership, professional impact, and community service.
