OB/GYN Residency

Welcome to the Obstetrics and Gynecology Residency Program at the Medical University of South Carolina, located in historic downtown Charleston.  Our program mission is to train skilled specialists in the delivery of high quality, compassionate, accountable, and innovative care to all women of South Carolina regardless of age or background.  As residents at MUSC, you will become adaptable expert physicians who appreciate lifelong learning, contribute to scientific discovery through cutting edge research and advance and build healthier communities by offering patients and families a comprehensive and collaborative approach to care.

This foundation is designed to prepare each resident to succeed as an academic specialist or private practitioner or complete additional sub-specialty certification.   Our department program provides comprehensive training in general obstetrics and gynecology which is augmented by significant exposure to our different sub-specialties: Gynecologic Oncology, Maternal-Fetal Medicine, Minimally Invasive Gynecologic Surgery (including Robotic surgery), Urogynecology and Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility.   Residents enjoy a continuity clinic throughout the 4 years, as well as specialty clinics including colposcopy, reproductive infectious disease and family planning. Residents participate In M&M conferences, journal club and grand rounds. In addition, academic afternoon is dedicated teaching time which includes didactics, simulation, case-based presentations and CREOG style question reviews.

The ideal candidate values teamwork, self-discipline, accountability, and demonstrates resilience and passion to be the best physician for his/her patients.  We strive to maintain a culture of education, supportive supervision, collegiality and joy among our residents to provide an optimal training environment for growth and development.

Thank you for your interest in our dynamic program located in on of America’s best cities

Sincerely,

Chris Goodier, MD, Ob/Gyn Residency Director
