Academic Focus
  • Dr. Blumer's research is focused on identifying the roles of accessory proteins for heterotrimeric G-protein signaling systems, in particular the Activator of G protein Signaling (AGS) proteins AGS3 and AGS4, within the context of chemokine signaling and other GPCR-directed cellular signals. Toward this end, the lab uses AGS3 and AGS4 null mouse models to assess their in vivo roles in chemokine signaling in leukocytes as well as cell-based and in vitro models for monitoring G-protein signaling.
  • Dr. Blumer is very active in medical education and is the Theme Leader (course director) for the Molecules, Metabolism and Therapeutics (MMT) theme in the College of Medicine FLEX pre-clerkship curriculum.
