Dr. Amy Gulledge, PhD, MSN/Ed, RN, CNE, is an Assistant
Professor at MUSC and a dedicated nursing professional with a diverse
background in education, research, and clinical practice. After earning her BSN
degree from Webster University, she went on and completed a master's degree in
nursing education. Dr. Gulledge then completed her PhD in Nursing Science at
the Medical University of South Carolina. Her dissertation explored social
isolation in adults with cystic fibrosis, reflecting her commitment to addressing
important healthcare challenges. Her other areas of interest include improving
wellness and behavioral health in pre-licensure nursing students and social
isolation in neurodiverse women.
Dr. Gulledge’s clinical experience includes a variety of
settings, including medical-surgical, cardiology, trauma, orthopedics, and
administrative admission oversight. Following her passion for nursing
education, she transitioned into a faculty role at the Baptist College of
Nursing, where she assisted in transitioning the program to an associate degree
program. After 5 years at Baptist College, Dr. Gulledge came to the MUSC
College of Nursing in 2016, remaining deeply involved in nursing education. She
is the Lead Faculty for the Undergraduate Program and teaches primarily in the
RN-BSN program. As a nursing educator, Dr. Gulledge has strived to provide
student-centered learning, real-life education, and enhancing clinical judgment
in prelicensure students.
Dr. Gulledge is involved in many college, university, and
state-based committees/organizations. She is a part of professional
organizations, including Sigma Theta Tau International, the National League for
Nursing, and the American Nurses Association. She also serves as a member of a
South Carolina State Board of Nursing committee.
