Biography

Lisa K. Saladin, PT, Ph.D., FAPTA, FASAHP, is a distinguished university professor at the Medical University of South Carolina (MUSC). She retired from her role as the executive vice president for Academic Affairs and provost after nine years in that position and over 35 years of service to MUSC. In her time as provost, she guided the academic mission across MUSC's six colleges while advancing institutional priorities in education innovation, research, student success, global health, humanities, gender equity, and library services.

During her leadership, she co-founded the MUSC Office of Innovation, co-created the Artificial Intelligence (AI) Research Hub with Clemson University, integrated multiple technology transfer functions into the Zucker Institute for Innovation and Commercialization, and led the creation of the Virtual Reality Anatomy Lab. She coordinated MUSC's response during the COVID-19 pandemic, supported major initiatives to reduce student debt, and championed new degree partnerships across the state. She has also been an early adopter of AI and served as the education champion for the MUSC Artificial Intelligence Strategic Plan. Under her direction, research funding grew from $260 million to $360 million, marking significant growth for the institution.

Before serving as provost, Dr. Saladin was the dean of the College of Health Professions and a long-serving faculty member in the physical therapy program. Dr. Saladin's commitment to service, mentorship, and collaboration has shaped generations of students, faculty, and colleagues. Her leadership legacy is defined by an unwavering focus on people, a clear sense of purpose, and a dedication to advancing health, education, and research for the communities MUSC serves.

Dr. Saladin continues to contribute to MUSC as a mentor and advisor for rising academic leaders and remains engaged in national academic conversations.
