Biography
Dr. Yulia Gavrilova is a Licensed Clinical Psychologist and Director of Burn Behavioral Health who specializes in traumatic stress and related problems. She received her doctoral degree in clinical psychology from the University of Nevada Las Vegas. She completed her predoctoral residency at the Alpert Medical School of Brown University and her postdoctoral fellowship at the Medical University of South Carolina. Dr. Gavrilova joined MUSC faculty in 2020 as an instructor in the Department of Surgery.
Dr. Gavrilova's research has focused primarily on development, evaluation, and dissemination of culturally tailored, technology-enhanced mental health interventions and resources for vulnerable and clinically underserved populations in the context of trauma and substance use. This includes first responders, survivors of traumatic injuries and burns, disaster survivors, athletes, and performers. Dr. Gavrilova is currently leading the Burn Behavioral Health program housed within MUSC’s comprehensive Burn Center to support mental, physical, and social rehabilitation of burn patients to improve well-being and quality of life post-burn.
