Biography

Dan Gros, Ph.D. is the Psychology Program Manager and Section Chief of the Primary Care Mental Health Integration and CBT Clinic programs, a VA Research and Development Principal Investigator, and Co-Director of the VA Advanced Fellowship in Mental Illness Research and Treatment (MIRECC) at the Ralph H. Johnson Veteran Affairs Medical Center. Dr. Gros also has an appointment as a Professor in the Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences at the Medical University of South Carolina. Dr. Gros completed his Honors B.S. in Psychology at Virginia Commonwealth University in 2001 and his M.A. and Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology at the University at Buffalo, and his Clinical Psychology Internship at the Charleston Consortium in 2008. Dr. Gros has extensive expertise in the diagnosis and comorbidity, assessment, and treatment of the affective disorders and related conditions, as well as in the development of transdiagnostic practices for these overlapping symptoms and disorders, with over 100 published manuscripts and 50 presentations at national and international conventions on these topics. Dr. Gros has been awarded two VA Merit Awards as a Principal Investigator to continue his research on Transdiagnostic Behavior Therapy, and its comparison to traditional, disorder-specific practices. Dr. Gros also has served as a Co-Investigator on several other grants funded by the VA, Department of Defense, and HRSA.
