Who We Are

Our mission at the Center for the Advancement of Teaching & Learning (CATL) is to lead in advancing teaching and learning.

We seamlessly integrate instructional design and learning technologies, cutting-edge AV technology, innovative learning space design, and multimedia excellence to empower educators and learners. We enhance teaching and learning by driving continuous improvement, advancing research-based instructional methods, and supporting the study of effective teaching practices. Through collaborative partnerships across disciplinary and university boundaries, along with educational development programming and consultations, we support the university's mission to provide an interprofessional environment for learning, discovery, and healing.

Our Approach

Listen

We listen intently, strategically, and continuously to our internal and external stakeholders. This deep level of engagement not only ensures we meet the current needs but also allows us to anticipate, plan for, and shape the future.

Learn

We learn from the wealth of data we collect internally while staying at the forefront of emerging trends in healthcare, health professions education, instructional design and technology, classroom space design, AV technology, and multimedia.

Lead

We lead collaboratively, with compassion, and expertise. Our three teams consist of seasoned experts in their respective fields, driven by a shared purpose and a strong sense of compassion. Acknowledging that healthcare is inherently interprofessional, we are dedicated to igniting and nurturing the growth of our students, faculty, and staff, with a focus on enhancing the teaching and learning experience. We collaborate with various entities across the enterprise to foster a welcoming and supportive teaching and learning environment, ultimately enhancing educational experiences and innovation.

Educational Software Support

We provide technical support and training for University educational software. As technology is expanding every minute, educational software is becoming a staple in many learning structures. Properly used, educational software can make teaching and learning more meaningful and fun. Educational software can be utilized to support or extend teaching and learning experiences. Effective integration is achieved when the use of educational software is consistent in supporting curricular goals.
