Student Leadership

MUSC believes leadership is a cornerstone of your educational journey. We provide transformative programs and experiences that equip students with the confidence and skills to lead in health care. By taking on leadership roles, you'll reinforce your classroom learning with real-world practice, collaborate in interprofessional teams, and develop essential skills like communication and teamwork. Engaged students are successful as involvement often translates into stronger academic performance and a clearer sense of purpose. Whether you are a new student or nearing graduation, our leadership opportunities prepare you to navigate your professional journey with purpose, influence, and impact.

Explore Leadership Programs & Opportunities

MUSC offers a vibrant array of more than 100 student organizations, societies and leadership opportunities. These experiences span all six colleges, giving students plenty of ways to get involved, build leadership skills and find their niche. The opportunities highlighted below focus on universitywide programs and initiatives offered through the Office of Student Engagement and are not a comprehensive list of all leadership opportunities available at MUSC. Each college also offers additional leadership opportunities tailored to its students and programs, so be sure to connect with your college to explore what’s available.

Student Government Association

The Student Government Association (SGA) serves as the collective voice of the student body, representing student interests to MUSC administration and the community. SGA leaders plan campus-wide events, allocate funding to student groups, and work on initiatives that enhance the student experience. SGA participation also means building connections across all six colleges as representatives from each college collaborate on university-wide improvements.

Meet your SGA representatives and see how you can participate.

University Student Ambassadors

University Student Ambassadors are a select group of student leaders who serve as official representatives of MUSC at institutional events, campus tours, and high-profile functions. Participation in the program offers valuable networking experiences, professional development, and public speaking opportunities, helping students refine skills that will serve them well in future clinical and leadership roles.
