Join us for Designing for Competence, a hands-on course design institute focused on creating learning experiences that intentionally support and assess competence development for professional practice. Through five bi-weekly sessions (Sept–Nov), participants will explore practical approaches to competency-aligned course design, assessment, feedback, and learner growth and walk away with tangible products to begin implementation within their own courses, regardless of program model.

Join us for Designing for Integrity, a hands-on course design institute where we will unpack timely and relevant concepts from the book The Opposite of Cheating by Tricia Bertram Gallant and David A. Rettinger. Through five bi-weekly sessions (Sept-Nov), participants will redesign course policies, learning activities, instructions, and assessments to better communicate expectations, promote authentic engagement, and cultivate a culture of integrity in the age of AI.

Join us for Fundamentals of Digital Accessibility, a six-week, instructor-guided, online course designed to introduce the foundations of digital accessibility and its role in creating inclusive learning and working environments. Participants will explore the importance of accessibility, gain insight into the experiences of individuals using assistive technologies, and apply practical strategies for creating accessible digital content. Through videos, readings, interactive activities, and discussion, participants will develop the knowledge and skills needed to implement accessibility best practices in their everyday work.

Digital Badge Opportunity:

Participants who successfully complete the course requirements, including active engagement in course activities and discussions and the creation of digitally accessible materials for review by a course facilitator, can earn an MUSC Digital Accessibility Badge. This verifiable credential recognizes knowledge and application of digital accessibility best practices and can be shared on professional profiles, portfolios, and annual review materials.

Join us for Foundations of Quality Online Instruction, a six-week, self-paced, online course designed to introduce evidence-based practices, tools, and principles for effective online teaching and learning. Participants will explore how online learning differs from face-to-face instruction, discover strategies for creating engaging and inclusive learning experiences, and gain practical experience with technologies that support learner success. Through readings, activities, and course design opportunities, participants will develop the knowledge and skills needed to create high-quality online learning environments.

Certificate Opportunity:

The Foundations of Quality Online Instruction certificate recognizes participants who actively engage with course readings, activities, and resources and apply evidence-based online teaching practices to a course they are currently teaching or plan to teach.
