Annually, an early- to mid-career faculty member at MUSC, is selected to receive this monetary fellowship award. The funds are intended to support the recipient in building a collaboration with a renowned expert in their field. Additionally, the fellowship includes a Mentor Award for the identified expert and a reception to honor the fellowship recipient.

The purpose of the Darlene Shaw Award for the Advancement of Faculty is to recognize the MUSC faculty member(s) who best demonstrates excellence in his/her commitment to the advancement and promotion of faculty at the Medical University of South Carolina.
This year, the recipients of the ARROW Darlene Shaw Advancement of Faculty Awards are Dr. David Long, Professor and Endowed Chair in the Department of Biochemistry & Molecular Biology, College of Medicine, and Dr. Shannon Phillips, Professor and Endowed Chair in the College of Nursing.
The ARROW Program semi-annually recognizes a prominent, nationally- and internationally-known scholar, bringing them to campus to expose MUSC faculty and trainees to role models.
