Scott Goodspeed, DHA, ’03, has accepted a position as program director of the Health Administration Program at the MGH Institute of Health Professions in Boston, Massachusetts.
Abel Guevara III, DHA, ’23, was appointed by the American Pharmacists Association (APhA) as the member-at-large and chair of the 2026-27 APhA academia community professional affairs team.
Tricia Howard, DMS, PA-C, ’97 and ’06, earned her Doctor of Medical Science degree from Northern Arizona University in May 2026, graduating with distinction. She was inducted into the Phi Kappa Phi Honor Society in recognition of her academic excellence.

Javier Vallejo, DHA, ’25, was selected as a 2026 St. Louis American Foundation’s Salute to Young Leaders honoree, an annual award given to individuals under 40 for their career achievements and community service in the St. Louis region.
Britta Watson, DHA, ’26, has accepted a position as radiology program director at CHI St. Vincent.
Andrew Wade, DHA, ’26, received the 2026 American Alliance of Orthopaedic Executives Award of Excellence for Practice Executive of the Year.

College of Medicine
Frank Adelbert Hoshall Jr., M.D., ’66, of Greenville, South Carolina, died in April 2026. Hoshall served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War as a flight surgeon before a career as a radiologist.
Cole Buchanan, M.D., ’19, and Kathryn Koval, M.D., ’12, were awarded 2026 Global Health Impact Grants, providing seed funding for projects designed to address pressing health issues in underserved communities across low- and middle-income countries.
College of Nursing
Mary Jo Bankhead Nimmo, DNP, ’81, was inducted into the East Carolina University College of Nursing Hall of Fame. Nimmo has taught at the college since 2011 and joined the faculty full time in 2022. She now serves as a clinical associate professor.
Eliza Hendricks, R.N., ’25, has been named the MUSC Hollings Cancer Center Clinics Nurse of the Year for her dedication, compassion, and commitment to excellence.
Teresa Kelechi, Ph.D., ’01, will retire after 39 years at MUSC. A leader within the MUSC College of Nursing, she influenced research, education, and clinical care while helping shape the next generation of nursing leaders. Kelechi is a member of the MUSC College of Graduate Studies Class of 2001.
Shannon Phillips, Ph.D., ’13, was awarded the Darlene Shaw Advancement of Faculty Award. Phillips is a professor and holds the Ann Darlington Edwards Endowed Chair in Nursing at the MUSC College of Nursing.

James Davis, Pharm.D., ’07, received the Hematology Oncology Pharmacists Association 2026 Basic Science and Clinical Research Literature Award for his team’s work demonstrating that dexamethasone is a safe and effective approach for managing cytokine release syndrome associated with teclistamab.
Mindy Helmly, ’05, earned the 2025-2026 Advanced Pharmacy Practice Experience Preceptor of the Year award for the Lowcountry.
Robert Page, Pharm.D., ’94, ’96, and ’98, received the Faculty Member of Distinction Award at the University of Colorado Health Science Center. The award recognizes a full-time faculty member who demonstrates distinctive traits that make the recipient an outstanding role model for peers and students.
Alanna Scott, Pharm.D., ’19, has been awarded the 2026 American Pharmacy Association Immunization Champion Award – Individual Practitioner. This award recognizes impact, collaboration, innovation, ability to overcome challenges, and creation of opportunities to expand immunization services and improve vaccination rates.
Amy Thompson, Pharm.D., ’05, clinical professor and director of community health and engagement at the University of Michigan College of Pharmacy, received the Experiential Education Excellence Faculty Award. This award recognizes a dedicated faculty member who has served as a primary preceptor for at least three years and has consistently hosted students for Advanced Pharmacy Practice Experiences.
Linda Zheng, Pharm.D., ’21, was presented with the 2025 District Paragon Award for District 24. She is the pharmacy manager for CVS #563 in Summerville, South Carolina.
