The Center for Global Health is excited to welcome you to the second-annual Global Health Week Poster Presentation Session on April 10.

This year’s poster session, taking place from 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. in the lobbies of the MUSC Drug Discovery and Bioengineering buildings, will feature the work of MUSC students, residents, fellows, and/or post-docs who are engaged in global health related research, clinical, service, and educational projects. Featured abstracts will include work such as research, program evaluation, public health, clinical care and more completed by MUSC representatives in the United States and abroad. Abstracts are welcome in all areas of global health. Continue reading below to learn more about the abstract guidelines.

Presenters will be eligible for a Judges’ Outstanding Poster Award and an Audience Favorite Award.

Abstract Submission - Important Dates

  • Abstract submission deadline: 8 p.m. EDT on March 22
  • Abstract acceptance notification: March 27
  • Global Health Week Poster Presentation Session: April 10

Abstract Guidelines

General Requirements

  • Categories: Abstracts are welcome in all areas of global health.
  • Abstracts must be in narrative form – no tables, charts or graphs.
  • Abstract should be a maximum of 300 words. (Note: This count does not include the abstract title.)
  • Submitting author is expected to attend the event and present the poster.
  • Submitting authors must obtain pre-approval from any co-authors prior to submitting the abstract.
  • Abstracts should be organized, concise, clear, and well-written.
  • Abstracts should include the problem being addressed, and your approach to the problem. Providing preliminary results is suggested but not required. Results will be required for the final poster.
  • In order for your abstract to be accepted, authors must clearly establish the connection between your work and outcomes related to global health, if it is not obvious.

Selection

A committee will evaluate submissions on its originality, presentation, relevance, quality and clarity, and recommend which submissions should be included in the MUSC Global Health Week poster session.

You will be notified of acceptance by March 27.
