Emerging Faculty Spotlight

Dr. Dante Pelzer is a native of Charleston, SC and works at the Medical University of South Carolina as the Assistant Director for Student Diversity in the Office of Student Programs and Student Diversity. Dr. Pelzer is also an Assistant Professor within the Academic Affairs Faculty. At MUSC, Dr. Pelzer oversees diversity and inclusion programming, advises multicultural student organizations, serves on various diversity and university-wide committees, and teaches courses within the Interprofessional (IP) curriculum. His research and academic interests focus on Black male college achievement, Black male identity development, and the experiences of underrepresented students throughout the higher education pipeline.

Dr. Sean P. Haley, MD MPH, relocated to Charleston, South Carolina from Syracuse, New York for his residency in Family Medicine through the Medical University of South Carolina, where he served as a chief resident. He has remained on faculty at MUSC and currently oversees the medical students’ curriculum on Health Systems Science, Public Health and Prevention, Evidence Based Medicine, and Health Care Disparities. He has additionally been able to serve alongside of students as the Medical Director for the MUSC Asylum Clinic and the advisor for the Public Health Interest Group. At the enterprise level, Dr. Haley serves as the Medical Director of Population Health for the MUSC Health Alliance. Nationally, he is the Liaison for the Association for Prevention Teaching and Research to the Community Preventive Services Task Force.

Dr. Bryant Seamon is a board-certified clinical specialist in neurologic physical therapy and postdoctoral fellow in the Department of Health Sciences and Research. Dr. Seamon initially joined MUSC in 2017 as a PhD student in the Health and Rehabilitation Science program after completing his residency and fellowship training with the Department of Veterans Affairs. Dr. Seamon currently teaches in the introductory evidence-based practice courses for the Divisions of Physical and Occupational Therapy as an adjunct instructor. He is motivated to create active and engaging learning experiences that equip students to become dynamic and leading health professionals.

Dr. Erin Weeda, PharmD, BCPS has been an Assistant Professor in the department of Clinical Pharmacy and Outcomes Sciences at the MUSC since 2017. She specializes in pharmacy-related health outcomes research and she uses her expertise in this area to teach and mentor numerous students and residents each year. Her work has resulted in over 65 peer-reviewed publications and 5 college and university-level teaching awards.
